CASERÍO TENO ALTO

It is located a few metres from the heart of the hamlet, at the beginning of the path that descends to Punta de Teno. It is undoubtedly a privileged place.

Teno Alto is another of the hamlets that preserves its tradition and essence. Shepherding continues to be one of its main economic activities, together with the traditional production of cheese. Local products include potatoes, cheese, wine, saffron, fruit and honey. The isolation suffered by this hamlet for decades has turned it into an authentic cultural jewel. You can discover old tile and bread ovens, as well as communal threshing floors and tágoras or shelters.

The Teno Rural Park is located in the extreme northwest of the island of Tenerife, and is basically made up of the Teno massif and the areas surrounding it. It includes part of the municipalities of Buenavista del Norte, Los Silos, El Tanque and Santiago del Teide. Since 1987 this area has been protected under the category of Natural Park, and was reclassified to its current category of Teno Rural Park by Law 12/1994 on Natural Spaces of the Canary Islands.

Teno is an ancient volcanic massif in which erosive processes shaped its current landscape, forming large coastal cliffs. The most representative feature of the coast of Teno are its impressive cliffs, such as Los Gigantes.
